COURSE OUTLINE

Introduction to Lean Six Sigma:

  • Overview of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Historical development and benefits of Lean Six Sigma.
  • Understanding the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) process.

Define Phase:

  • Defining project goals and scope.
  • Identifying stakeholders and understanding their requirements.
  • Developing a project charter.
  • Creating process maps and flowcharts.

Measure Phase:

  • Collecting and analyzing data to understand the current state of the process.
  • Identifying key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conducting data collection and measurement system analysis (MSA).
  • Creating process capability and process performance metrics.

Analyze Phase:

  • Identifying root causes of problems or inefficiencies in the process.
  • Using various tools like Pareto charts, cause-and-effect diagrams, and scatter plots to analyze data.
  • Applying statistical analysis to identify patterns and correlations.
  • Hypothesis testing to validate potential causes.

Improve Phase:

  • Developing and testing potential solutions.
  • Applying various improvement methodologies, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Lean principles.
  • Evaluating the impact of proposed solutions using data analysis.
  • Selecting the most effective solution(s) for implementation.

Control Phase:

  • Developing control plans to sustain improvements over time.
  • Implementing process controls and monitoring systems.
  • Setting up monitoring and feedback mechanisms.
  • Creating visual management tools and dashboards.

Lean Principles:

  • Introduction to Lean concepts and principles, such as value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban, and Kaizen.
  • Applying Lean techniques to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance customer value.

Statistical Tools:

  • In-depth understanding of statistical techniques like hypothesis testing, regression analysis, ANOVA, and statistical process control (SPC).

Project Management:

  • Managing Lean Six Sigma projects, including project planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Team leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Change management principles.

Case Studies and Real-World Application:

  • Analyzing real-world Lean Six Sigma case studies and success stories.
